Support HBT’s Little Food Pantries
A call for both donations and volunteers for HBT’s Little Food Pantries!
HBT’s Little Food Pantries, located at the corner of Dewbourne and Bathurst, were created more than two years ago in response to the food crisis in our city. Food insecurity is a growing problem in Toronto and across Canada. Studies show that there has been a 340% increase in food bank visits since 2019. In 2025 alone, there were 4.1 million food bank visits. Our Little Food Pantries are a welcome source of non-perishable food for those in our community struggling to access adequate, safe and nutritious food.
We need your help to keep the Little Food Pantries stocked! We are specifically looking for both regular donations of non-perishable goods and for volunteers willing to help bring the donated food to replenish the Pantries on a regular schedule.
When you come to Holy Blossom, please consider bringing a donation for the pantry. Any non-perishable food items are welcome, particularly healthy and nutritious items such as canned meat or fish, vegetables, beans, tomato sauce, soups, pastas, and cereals. Donations can be left in the Tzedakah box that is located on the left-hand side as you enter from the Ava Road entrance.
We are also looking for volunteers to sign up for a regular “shift” stocking the pantries. This is a small time commitment, but one that makes a meaningful difference to our community. If you come to Temple regularly for services or programs, consider signing up to help out with replenishing the pantries. If you are bringing your kids to the ECE, YEC, or other activities on a regular basis, why not sign up to restock the pantries with your kids and help them learn firsthand about the values of tikkun olam and tzedakah? It’s never too early to learn that every donation helps and that even young kids can make a difference in the lives of others.
