Advocacy @ HBT: Condemn the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario’s decision

You may already be aware that the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has chosen Independent Jewish Voices (IJV), an anti-Zionist group that has rejected the IHRA definition of antisemitism, to provide its executive-level antisemitism training. This is unacceptable and marks how mainstream Jewish concerns and values are being ignored in favour of extremist fringe voices.  

CIJA has prepared a petition that you can add your name to here. IJV holds an extremist ideology and partners with dangerous groups like Samidoun. A prominent member of the IJV, David Mivasair, has testified that organizations that support the State of Israel “should be destroyed.” 

Further, IJV does not represent the vast majority of Jewish Canadians. Recent data by Dr. Robert Brym indicates that its fringe views are shared by only 1% of Canadian Jews. In contrast, 94% of Canadian Jews support the existence of Israel as a Jewish state.
