Advocacy @ HBT: Interfaith Student Ally Event TONIGHT!
Allied Voices for Israel (www.alliedvoicesforisrael.org) is hosting a Student Ally event this evening, at 7:30 pm. Join them to hear, firsthand, what it’s like being a friend of the Jewish community on campus. What motivates our allies, what challenges do they face, and how can we continue to support them? The panel includes non-Jewish students from Concordia, UBC, Western, Ottawa, Calgary and elsewhere, who will share their experiences working with AVI to combat antisemitism. You can register at this link!
CIJA has circulated a new petition, asking that the Prime Minister fulfill his campaign promise for additional funding for the Canada Community Security Program. The newly proposed federal budget does not include immediate additional investments. Please use the CIJA actionhub to send the Prime Minister a message: “Keep your promise and give our community security assistance.”
Holy Blossom is screening the TIFF award-winning documentary “The Road Between Us” on December 3rd. Click here to learn more and purchase tickets. We encourage you to invite friends and allies from the non-Jewish community to join us for this important evening.
Finally, we want to extend our gratitude to those of you who raised your voice in writing to Mayor Olivia Chow. Many of you copied Rabbi Kaye on your correspondence with the Mayor. It is important that our community speaks up when we feel that our elected officials have not supported us. Please click here to see the instructions we sent out last week on how to contact Mayor Chow and several talking points to include in your communication.
