Sandi Smith, Vice President, Kehilah Kedoshah
My family and I have been members of Holy Blossom Temple for over 50 years. I was both consecrated and confirmed here at Temple and my class pictures line the halls. Much later in life, I attended the Adult B’nai Mitzvah class and became a Bat Mitzvah in my forties. Holy Blossom has been my lifelong home and when I was married, my husband, Jeff Dicker, joined me in making Holy Blossom our synagogue. We have raised three boys—Matthew, Isaac and Jacob—who all have attended our religious school, and each became a Bar Mitzvah at Holy Blossom. For many years, our boys have attended URJ Camp George as both campers and then staff, and they have emerged from that camp experience well-grounded in their Jewish heritage.
Over the past years I have been an active volunteer at URJ Camp George, chaired the Strategic Planning Committee for the camp, and became the Chair of its Camp Council. I marvel at what a special place
Camp George is and how it nurtures Jewish identity and values. At Holy Blossom, I chaired the Campaign for Youth Engagement and am proud that many of the Campaign’s recommendations have been
implemented by the Temple. Most recently, I have been the Co-Chair of the Kugel Kindness Initiative at Holy Blossom. We are spreading kindness delivering one kugel at a time, and Temple members are both
thankful and touched by this simple act that lets them know that Holy Blossom is there to support them in times of need.
Professionally I am a licensed Architect and a sole practicioner, and I thoroughly enjoy working with clients on smaller-scale residential projects. Whether building new or transforming existing homes, I
enjoy the process of hands-on problem-solving with clients to turn their needs and aspirations into beautiful living spaces.
In my spare time, you can find me running on the Beltline and enjoying my priceless one-on-one time with my grandson, Cole.
I look forward to my continued work with Kehila Kedosha and being on the Board.
