Mondays with Meaning: My Confirmation Adventure
By Seraphina Feldman
Hi everyone, my name is Seraphina, and I just became confirmed this year. My experience has actually been the best, and I have made super amazing friends from it. To be completely honest, I know that Monday nights can be annoying, that’s what I thought before I went, but then I met Geri and Dana, the teachers. I had Geri from grade 8 to 9, and Dana this year for Grade 10. First, let me tell you about Geri.
She is one of the coolest women I have ever met. She’s the best, and makes every class interesting, and makes sure everyone is happy and involved. I loved talking to her and learning from her; she is so smart and knows the absolute most interesting things about history. Another little plus was that there were always snacks, so don’t worry, you will be happy. Overall, I loved it so much. Geri is the best, funny, and actually insanely cool. We had many lessons about Jewish history, and we talked about what was happening in Israel.
Now let me talk about Dana. I love Dana; she is also the best. First class was so fun, she is very nice, and super funny, especially with banter. She’s just very cool, to be honest. In grade 10 in the confirmation class, we talked about being confirmed and the process of course, as well as Jewish history and current things that are happening in the world. It was a very interesting class. As well as that, the people you are surrounded with, so your fellow confirmands, are also amazing. You will make lifelong friendships, trust me on this. One week, I even showed up to Hebrew school when there was no class – I thought there was. I was disappointed when I realized no one was there, and I had to go home because I was excited to see my friends and Dana!
Overall, continuing to go on Monday nights was the best decision my parents made for me, and ultimately, I made for myself. If you are in grade 7 or 8, please consider going because you will miss out if not and will have one of the best lifetime experiences with your friends.
