Helping Israeli New Arrivals to Canada
Continuing a Holy Blossom Tradition
Holy Blossom Temple has a long history of helping those who want to settle in Canada. Inspired by our previous commitment to newcomers from all over the world, a new group has been formed at HBT to address the resettlement of Israelis. About 1000 Israelis have arrived in Toronto during the past year and it is estimated that this number may triple over the next 6-8 months.
Our partner in all these efforts continues to be the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society (JIAS).
WHAT WE CAN DO
If you are looking to hire new employees…
Speed Mentoring with JIAS and HBT
Join JIAS and Holy Blossom Temple for an evening of in-person speed mentoring and networking! This is an opportunity to connect with industry professionals from a variety of backgrounds. Mentors will offer insights, advice, and recommendations to support your job search, and they may also share their experiences and contacts to help expand your professional network.
How Speed Mentoring Works: Each Mentor will be seated at a table, and participants will rotate from table to table, meeting with around 10 professionals by the end of the event. You’ll have about 10 minutes with each mentor, allowing for focused, one-on-one discussions.
Date: January 20, 2024

Pop-Up Shop to Support Israeli Families
Dear Friends,
Since October 7, 2023, more than 1000 displaced families from Israel have arrived in the GTA, seeking safety and a fresh start. Unfortunately, many of these families have come with very little and are living on tight budgets as they navigate this challenging transition.
To support them, a grassroots initiative, started by a group of caring friends and supported by UJA, has taken shape to help these families settle into life here. To date, we have helped more than 150 families providing them clothing, furniture and household goods. If you have already donated these items, THANK YOU! Your generosity has made a real difference.
We are thrilled to share some exciting news: we’ve secured a temporary location to create a welcoming “pop-up shop,” where these families can access essential items for free. However, we need your help to open the doors and bring this initiative to life.
We are looking for volunteers to help run the shop. This is an incredible opportunity to meet these families, make connections, and be part of a true mitzvah. Your involvement will provide much-needed support to newcomer Israeli families who are starting over in our community.
If you can spare time to volunteer, we would love to have you on the team. Together, we can make a lasting impact.
Thank you for your continued generosity and compassion.
