Holy Blossom Advocacy Committee
Introducing the Holy Blossom Advocacy Committee
The role of the Holy Blossom Advocacy Committee is to partner with other organizations that are conducting Israel advocacy and combating antisemitism in Toronto and elsewhere in Canada. Representatives of the Committee are in regular contact with these partner organizations to identify projects that Holy Blossom can support, with the goal of enhancing their effectiveness and community reach. In selecting partner organizations and specific projects, the Committee always strives to align with the broad consensus of Holy Blossom’s membership.
As suitable projects are identified, the Committee communicates action items to Temple membership and beyond, collaborating with other Temple committees, Temple clergy and staff.
Bridging Divides, Building Bridges
The Advocacy Committee promotes these selected projects by reaching out to allies in the broader Jewish and non-Jewish community, creating a network that can amplify the good work being undertaken by our partners. When engaging potential allies from non-Jewish faith-based organizations, the Committee’s work is carefully coordinated with Holy Blossom’s Interfaith Committee. Other areas of focus for the Committee include maintaining strong relationships with local MPs, MPPs, and municipal councillors.
