Bikkur Cholim @ Holy Blossom Temple
Bikkur Cholim @ HBT
Dear Holy Blossom Temple,
Over the last few months, as we have been reinvigorating and expanding our Bikkur Cholim work, there have been many opportunities to be involved and engaged.
Please read below some words from member James Karrel about his experience, as someone who has been jumping right into the deep end with both feet:
—
The way I make contact with my Kugel deliveries is by calling the individual or sending them a text message. This way I am able to make a personal connection with the individual who will benefit from the Kugel delivery. In all of my deliveries, the individual is very pleased & touched that someone from the Holy Blossom Temple is thinking about them & wants to make a positive impact on their life. I feel really good when I receive feedback from someone who has been given a Kugel meal. I also have made new friends at Holy Blossom Temple because of my volunteer experience. That’s a good way to meet other members of Holy Blossom Temple. I have been going to Amica on the Avenue seniors residence once a month with another group. We help bring in the Sabbath when we visit them. Again I have made new friends because of this volunteer work & it feels really good to talk & share with the seniors at Amica. Serving food or talking to others in need fills my heart with joy.
I really enjoy being of service to the Holy Blossom Temple community. It is a way for me to give back to the world. I have been so blessed in my life. I had incredibly nurturing parents, relatives & teachers. I have been given so many opportunities to help me grow & be a good & productive citizen. Now that I am an elder I feel it’s my turn to give back to the community. I receive so much joy & fulfillment by helping others. It’s another way to get to know each other at Holy Blossom Temple in a meaningful way. So, if volunteering calls to you, please give this a try. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of The Bikkur Cholim Committee. It’s easy to do & can make a very positive impact on another person’s life.
