Volunteerism benefits people in need. In the case of our family, the need had nothing to do with food or clothing. We had suffered a loss and were needing condolence.
On the first night of shiva, the Holy Blossom Temple community extended into our home. We were visited by a Temple volunteer, who was learned in the way of shiva prayer. Alan, did not know us, yet he appeared at our home to offer comfort and tradition. He led us in saying the required shiva prayers.
Our family, friends and our Temple community were united in their efforts to comfort us and share the burden of our grief.
For this we were most appreciative.
