Torah Stitch by Stitch is an international project of ordinary people who want to experience the spirit and rigor of producing holy texts. Rather than ink and parchment, participants use cross-stitch on canvas to compose Biblical verses.
During the kiddish following services on May 15 our artist-in-residence Temma Gentles will share the origins of this project and its relationship to the sofer (scribal) tradition. Participation is open to people of any age, gender, nationality and religious persuasion. Following the launch, participants can purchase a kit for $18 with all of the materials needed to contribute a 4-verse portion of Torah to this project.
