What is a Mitzvah? This was the theme for the day!
It took a little while – but we finally got around to the understanding that “a good deed” is one of the Mirzvot but not the meaning of Mitzvah. The real translation of the word mitzvah is commandment.
We dedicated part of our class discussing “Visiting the Sick.” How can we fulfill this Mitzvah? We made some cards to be given to Bikur Cholim Committee of Holy Blossom Temple. This committee does a number of different things, including making soup, visiting elderly, transporting people to doctor’s appointments, and more. These cards will be a wonderful addition to their generosity.
In Hebrew we learned about Geshem, the word for rain.
Please make time for your child to read at home. The follow-up is crucial for all students to maintain a sense of fluency in our reading. If the reading is difficult – please break it down in sections for your student.
Thank you to parents that answered my email, called or asked me to call.
I am still in the process of calling everybody. I look forward to hearing from all of you as well as to share what we are doing in class.
Have a nice week
Sandra
