There is a story about a community with a tower that strives to have it’s shem – it’s name – be heard amongst all the lands. But that’s a story about dedication to the idea of a tower – to the building and to the structure. I am here because of a community who’s shem – shem tov – is known across the Jewish and non-Jewish worlds, but not for it’s magnificent tower… even though it does have one, but for the community – the people – that inhabit it’s building.
