If you’ve tried to participate in any outdoor activities these past couple of weeks, you know that our local weather has been a touch unpredictable. Heavy downpours have had an obvious impact on our general contractor, Pomerleau Inc., who are in the middle of erecting the massive structural steel columns required to frame our new Atrium. Until this work is completed, our crews and our open-air site (as the accompanying photos reflect), are at the mercy of Mother Nature.
Coincidentally, the past two weeks saw our mechanical contractors bring in the new water service to the building, tunneling in from the Dewbourne side of the campus. In order to make this new connection, all of our running water had to be turned off for just over ten days. This work is now complete and we thank all of our congregants, visitors, as well as our patient staff, for making do under less than optimal conditions.
Hopefully, we’ll have drier weather for the rest of the summer and our progress on the remainder of Phase 1 construction will pick up as a result. As you know, Phase 1 includes our transformative Central Atrium, brand new Family Chapel, Café, Youth Lounge, Judaica Shop, Library, all in a LEED Silver Certified, environmentally-friendly building.
It’s worth reminding you (and indeed, celebrating) that, despite our massive Renewal Project in progress, Holy Blossom continues to operate on-site as a fully functioning synagogue, offering all of the programs and services you enjoy. This is truly astonishing when you consider the scale of the construction that’s underway – and it’s the direct result of detailed planning by our architects, Building and Steering Committees, contractors, clergy, staff and so many of our passionate Renewal Project volunteers. Thank you so much for your efforts!
