Rabbi Eliza McCarroll
Eliza McCarroll is the Assistant Rabbi of Holy Blossom Temple.
She was ordained from the Cincinnati campus of Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in 2022.
Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, she grew up heavily involved in the Reform movement of her home country.
Rabbi McCarroll obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communications, majoring in Public Communication, from the University of Technology, Sydney, and later a Graduate Diploma of International Relations from Macquarie University, also in Sydney.
Upon receiving her BA, she studied for a year at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and volunteered for the Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC).
During her time at HUC-JIR, Rabbi McCarroll had the privilege of serving as the student rabbi at congregations in Ohio, Michigan, and in Australia.
She was additionally immersed in various settings in the Cincinnati Jewish community, from chaplaincy, religious school, Jewish day school, Hillel, a research fellowship, and working with the Office of Recruitment and Admissions at the College.
Here in Toronto, Rabbi McCarroll takes on regular pulpit duties, such as Shabbat, holidays, and life cycle events, oversees our Kehillah Kedosha (Sacred Community) department, and is the clergy contact for Sunday mornings at our Youth Education Centre. Additionally, she sits on the Council for URJ Camp George, the International Leadership Committee of the World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ), and the Board of the Canadian Friends of the WUPJ.
In her spare time, she enjoys anything to do with food, nature, comedy, and, most importantly, spending time with loved ones.
