Rabbi Eliza McCarroll
Eliza McCarroll is the Assistant Rabbi of Holy Blossom Temple, as of June 8, 2022.
This follows her ordination from the Cincinnati campus of Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in May of the same year.
Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, she grew up heavily involved in the Reform movement of her home country.
Rabbi McCarroll obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communications, majoring in Public Communication, from the University of Technology, Sydney, and later a Graduate Diploma of International Relations from Macquarie University, also in Sydney.
Upon receiving her BA, she studied for a year at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and also volunteered for the Israel Religious Action Center.
During her time at HUC-JIR, Rabbi McCarroll had the privilege of serving as the student rabbi at congregations in Ohio, Michigan, and in Australia.
She was additionally immersed in a variety of settings in the Cincinnati Jewish community itself, from teaching religious school, Jewish day school, being a research fellow, and working with the Office of Recruitment and Admissions at the College. She also completed a compulsory unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). In her final year at HUC-JIR, she was the rabbinic intern at Temple Sholom of Cincinnati.
In her spare time, Rabbi McCarroll enjoys anything to do with food, nature, comedy, music, photography, and, most importantly, spending time with loved ones.
