Kabbalat Shabbat

Friday Evening – Kabbalat Shabbat

Fridays at 6 p.m. in the Mishkan on the second floor

Our Synagogue welcomes Shabbat with a warm, communal worship experience. This simple, engaging service is filled with congregational participation and community spirit. An informal service, Kabbalat Shabbat has become an important part of the week for many of our congregants.

Join us this Shabbat, and see if it’s right for you.

Every week of the month has its own flavour:

Neginah Band (second & fourth Shabbat of every month)*

A flute. An accordion.  Percussion.  A few guitars.  A banjo.  One hot clarinet.

Our home-grown Shabbat Neginah Band brings a taste of Klezmer and a joyful sound to welcome in Shabbat.
Come add your voice and enjoy the warmth of Shabbat every second Shabbat of the month.

Shabbat Morning

Shabbat Service, Saturdays, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Usually held in our beautiful sanctuary, our Shabbat morning service is the centrepiece of our week. The voices of our Cantors and Temple Singers lead our prayers in celebration of Shabbat. The teachings of our Rabbis explore Jewish ideas and Jewish ideals. The life cycle occasions of our congregants – Baby naming, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Aufruf, Special Anniversary, Significant Birthday, acknowledging recovery, accomplishment or loss – bring our congregation together in sacred community to share in each others’ joy and sorrow. Kiddush-lunch follows for all to gather and greet.

Family Service, Saturdays, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm (when school is in session)

Celebrate Shabbat at this all-ages service. An engaging and family friendly service service led by our Rabbis and David Gershon, with age-aprripriate break out sessions. Followed by lunch for all to enjoy.
