Peter Dan, Vice-President, Worship
I was born in Budapest, Hungary on Dec 24, 1945. My parents were Holocaust survivors.
I grew up in Communist Hungary and emigrated to Canada with my parents at age 14—four years after the failed Hungarian revolution against the Communist government.
I completed High School and got my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto in 1969, having majored in Math and Physics, and graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 1973.
Married in 1972, I practiced Dentistry for 49 years. I sold my two practices and retired in 2021.
We have been members of Holy Blossom Temple since 1978. We were members of Chavurah groups for many years. My two sons had their Bar Mitzvot at the Temple. I served on various committees such as the Congregation Hall Committee and the Worship Committee for several years. I have also been serving as a Shiva Service Leader since 1992 and as a Shacharit Service Leader since 2002. I studied Torah with Rabbi Marmur, covering Genesis line by line, from cover to cover. I have been an amateur history and philosophy buff for most of my life.
I recently became the Shiva Leaders’ Co-Ordinator, in charge of organizing and scheduling of Shiva Leaders’ services.
I am now honoured to be the VP of Worship.
