The grade nines had a discussion concerning “identity”. We discussed the Alfred Dreyfus case. Dreyfus was a French army officer who was unjustly accused of selling documents to the Germans in 1894. In describing the trial, reporters repeatedly referred to Dreyfus as a Jew even though his religion had no bearing on the case. We concluded the evening with a brief but powerful video, One For One, encouraging a discussion on choices.
