Launching Holy Blossom Temple’s Advocacy Committee: URGENT Action Item
The goal of Holy Blossom’s new Advocacy Committee is to provide grassroot support for organizations that are fighting antisemitism and defending the Jewish state. Working together, our community can accomplish far more than any single person, organization, or synagogue.
Our first urgent action item is a request from CIJA (Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs) to let “undecided Members of Parliament know that an upcoming motion, scheduled for March 18th in the House of Commons, is unacceptable to our community and represents a dangerous radicalization of Canadian foreign policy.”
Included in the motion is…
- An immediate and unilateral recognition of a Palestinian State by Canada, regardless of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. This goes against Canada’s longtime foreign policy that expects the creation of a Palestinian state to come about through negotiation and the resolution of critical issues.
- A reinstitution of funding for UNRWA, despite the ongoing investigation that implicates multiple employees took active part in the horrific terror attacks on October 7th and have regularly colluded with Hamas.
- An arms embargo against Israel. This would forbid Canada from providing the defensive technology and provisions that it currently sells to Israel.
