Gerry Prendergast, Vice President, Worship
I enrolled in the Jewish information course in January 2003. I had read and studied Judaism for some years prior and was interested in learning more. Rabbi John Moscowitz was my sponsoring Rabbi. He was the senior Rabbi at Holy Blossom at the time. I completed the course in Dec. 2003 and after some thought and discussion, I went to the Beit Din and the Mikvah to complete my conversion and become a Jew in June 2004. I have never been more sure of a decision in my life.
I continue to study and read as much as I can and am amazed by all there is to learn and discuss and listen to so many wonderful Rabbis and teachers. Holy Blossom became my home very shortly into my year in the information course and I never looked anywhere else I found my very welcoming warm community and have made many friends and met so many interesting people. I am involved in organizing the Ushers group for Shabbatot and High Holy Days. I volunteered at out of the cold for many years as part of the Breakfast crew. I belong to the musical heritage committee and the security committee. I am a member of the Holy Blossom Chavurah for over 12 years now, a very interesting and fun group of friends. I am proud to be able to chant Torah and Haftarah I am working on improving my knowledge of Hebrew. I am just completing 4 years on the Board as Vice President, Worship. I have learned so much and am in awe of all the work that is done behind the scenes so to speak.
I am a retired Oncology Nurse having worked at Princess Margaret Cancer Center since 1990. A very wonderful rewarding career. I am the proud mom of Emma and Krista and besotted Gaga (Bubie) of Seamus and Gus.
