SUMMARY:Holy Blossom Goes to the Nova Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Holy Blossom Goes to the Nova Exhibit\nTuesday\, June 3\, 7:00 pm \n  \nTogether as a Holy Blossom community\, we will visit this harrowing exhibit\, and find comfort and strength in one another as we remember October 7\, and the festival which became an epicentre of horror on that terrible day. \nWe will commemorate and debrief together following our exhibit tour\, supporting each other in that way. \nPlease note that the Exhibition is recommended for ages 12+ due to the sensitive and graphic nature of some of the content. We further recommend that children between 12 and 16 years old be accompanied by a trusted adult. \nYou can learn more here: https://www.novaexhibition.com/ \n  \nRegister here \nTickets are $28/person\, as per the exhibit website.\nWe will let our registrants know the precise Midtown location\, as the exhibit releases this information.\nPlease arrive at 6:45 pm\, for a 7:00 pm start. \n  \nABOUT THE EXHIBIT \nVisitors will travel on a timeline of the Nova Music Festival on October 7th\, telling the story of the events on that dreadful day. A carefully-crafted mosaic of information\, evidence\, and emotion. The remains of joy\, which now serves as bleak evidence of the sharp contrast between revered values and the cruel sting of the reality of that day. We invite you to walk through the winding path from the depths of pain and loss to the threshold of action\, the healing and the hope of the community. The events on that black Saturday will be presented as a shocking contrast between light and darkness\, good and evil\, that is relevant to the entire world. \nThe installation creates a sacred space echoing the weight of the victims’ and survivors’ memories\, surrounded by remains salvaged from the festival grounds—scorched cars\, bullet-riddled bathroom stalls\, and personal belongings all left behind. Visitors will be invited to join a plea for the safe return of the hostages who are still held in captivity by Hamas terrorists. Nova survivors of the brutal attack will be attending as witnesses to the tragedy they experienced on that day. Beyond the brutality and evil that occurred on October 7\, the exhibition will capture the enduring spirit of the Tribe of Nova with the installation of the healing room. This sanctuary is intended for visitors to mend their spirits\, reflect\, and find solace after bearing witness to the harrowing events of The Nova Music Festival. Hanging tall and bright is the hopeful plea that “We will dance again”.

SUMMARY:Holy Blossom Goes to the ROM (Round Two)!
DESCRIPTION:Holy Blossom Goes to the ROM (Round Two)!\nAuschwitz: “Not Long Ago\, Not Far Away” \nSunday\, June 15\, 1:00 pm \n  \nBack by popular demand\, Holy Blossom Temple will make a second congregational visit to this unprecedented exhibition that examines the history and legacy of Auschwitz. \nThis powerful exhibit\, which arrived in Toronto just ahead of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on January 27\, 2025\, explores the dual identity of the Auschwitz camp as a physical setting — the largest documented mass murder site in human history — and as a symbol of the borderless manifestation of hatred and human atrocity. \n“Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away.” underscores a critical need to understand the underlying conditions that allowed the Holocaust to happen. By reflecting on the past\, visitors are invited to consider their role in creating a more inclusive and tolerant society. \nCongregant\, beloved YEC educator\, and past ROM educator Geri Durbin will lead a debrief afterwards and a guided tour of the Judaica exhibit\, which will give us all an opportunity to exhale. \nThis exhibit is only appropriate for children 12+ \nPrices are as follows:\nAdult – $31.20\nChild (ages 12-14) – $19.20\nSenior (65+) – $26.50\nStudent (post-secondary) -$25.60\nYouth (ages 15-19) – $25.60 \nMembers of ROM don’t need to pay\, but you will need to register. \nRegister here \nLearn more about the exhibit HERE – https://www.rom.on.ca/whats-on/exhibitions/auschwitz-not-long-ago-not-far-away

SUMMARY:Dorot Presents: Wise Aging
DESCRIPTION:Dorot Presents: Wise Aging\nHarnessing Jewish Wisdom As We Enter the Wisdom Generation\nTuesday\, June 24\, 11:00 am \n  \nJoin us as we explore how Jewish text encounters the human body to learn how we can approach our aging bodies with gratitude. \nTogether with special guest Dr. Arielle Berger\, we will examine how we can reframe the experience of aging to be one of positivity and possibility\, as we focus on all the good we still have and everything we can still do. From there\, we can build a practice of gratitude for entering this season of life\, using Jewish wisdom as we enter the Wisdom Generation. \n  \nYou can register to attend either virtually or online HERE. \nThe Dorot program is generously sponsored by Carole and Jay Sterling and Family. \nThe event is $15/HBT members\, $18/non-members.\nAll are welcome to join in the Schwartz/Reisman Atrium for Games following this program. \n  \nABOUT OUR SPEAKER:\nDr. Arielle Berger is a geriatrician and adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She has a clinical practice at Toronto Grace Health Center in downtown Toronto and teaches communication and professionalism skills to doctors in training and in practice. She is also pursuing rabbinic ordination through the Shalom Hartman Institute\, hoping to address both physical and spiritual needs of the aging Jewish community in Toronto.\nIs the event free?

SUMMARY:Interfaith Jewish and Muslim Rare Library Tour
DESCRIPTION:Interfaith Jewish and Muslim Rare Library Tour\nThursday\, July 24\, 5:30 pm\, University of Toronto\, Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library \n  \nJoin Holy Blossom Temple and the Intercultural Dialogue Institute for a guided visit to the current exhibit at the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library: Jewish-Muslim Interactions in Books! \nThe curator writes: “In recent generations\, there is a tendency to view and define relations between Jews and Muslims through the lens of 20th-21st century political conflicts. Yet\, the peoples that adhere to these two monotheistic religions have interacted in multifaceted – often much more positive – ways through the ages. The purpose of this exhibition is to highlight these relations\, some of which had profound impacts on modern-Western culture more generally\, through the holdings of the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library.” \nOur two communities will join curator Nadav Sharon for a personal tour of the collection and then have a communal conversation\, led by Rabbi Kaye and Fatih Agil\, to discuss our impressions and experiences of this incredible collection. \nRegister here!
