The link to the livestream will be provided upon registration. \nPlease register here (whether attending in person or online) to join us. \n  \n\nAliza Shupac is a Registered Social Worker/Psychotherapist with a special focus on supporting parents from preconception to the postpartum period and beyond. SUMMARY:Book Launch and Signing: Ten Clear Days
DESCRIPTION:Book Launch and Signing: Ten Clear Days\nA novel by Eric Beck Rubin \nSunday\, April 26\, 11:00 am \nOn a Tuesday night in August 2018\, eighty-three-year-old Holocaust survivor\, Mary Beck is rushed by ambulance to the hospital. She wakes up to the news that her surgery was a success and her recovery is underway––but she doesn’t want to hear it. She had been preparing for her end. And with newly enacted legislation\, she can demand it. \nBefore a decision can be made on whether to grant her request\, a member of the non-medical hospital staff\, “Au.\,” is brought in to record the unfolding events. But what begins as an arm’s-length report during ten mandated days that Mary awaits her fate\, soon turns into a sweeping examination of a life. \nFrom her upbringing in pre-war Hungary and survival of the war\, to the start of her new life in Canada\, Mary\, along with her family and friends\, tells the story of this complicated\, forceful\, fiercely loved person at every stage of her extraordinary life. A life she now fights to end on her own terms. \nRegister here \n\nEric Beck Rubin is a novelist and academic. His début\, School of Velocity\, was named one of the Guardian’s Books of the Year. He created and produced the Burning Books literary review and interview podcast. He teaches architectural and cultural history at the University of Toronto and collaborates with art galleries and architecture firms on exhibitions and design competitions. Eric’s family ties run four generations deep at Holy Blossom Temple.

SUMMARY:Holistic Skin Care Workshop: Nourishment from Within & Without
DESCRIPTION:Holistic Skin Care Workshop: Nourishment from Within & Without\nA Women of Holy Blossom Temple Program \nMonday\, May 4\, 6:30 pm \nThis one-time\, hands-on workshop invites you to explore a more intuitive and grounded approach to skin care — one that begins with what is already part of daily life. Drawing inspiration from traditional substances referenced in the Torah\, as well as in Jewish history and cultural practices\, it incorporates a selection of natural materials that have long been associated with care\, ritual\, and everyday well-being. \nParticipants will create simple and effective skin care products to take home\, using every day\, edible\, and natural ingredients. The focus is not on complicated formulations\, but on understanding how to work with materials that are accessible\, familiar\, and gentle on the body. These products include body powder\, anointing balm (oil-based balm)\, body oil\, bath salts\, and a bath scrub. \nThis workshop is designed to reconnect skin care with simplicity\, awareness\, and intention — moving away from over-complication and toward a more holistic relationship with the body. \nNo prior experience is needed. All materials and tools will be provided. \nRegister here \nPresenter’s Bio: \n\nAngela has an academic and practical background and family tradition in Chinese medicine\, as well as a long-standing interest in preventive health and everyday well-being.\nHer work explores how daily habits – including food\, movement\, and simple natural materials – can support the body in practical and sustainable ways. She is especially interested in making holistic concepts more accessible by grounding them in daily life\, and by translating ideas that are often seen as abstract or mystical into something people can understand and use.\nShe also draws inspiration from a range of traditional practices and cultural approaches to health\, particularly in the use of herbs and natural materials.
