Little White Lie follows filmmaker Lacey Schwartz’s journey from growing up in a typical white upper-middle-class Jewish household in Woodstock, NY. to her discovery that her biological father is black. Piecing together her family history through home videos, archival footage, interviews, and episodes from her own life. Little White Lie exposes the profound impact of her mother’s secrets on Lacey. In telling her story, Lacey’s film asks us to delve deep into how families construct our identities and perhaps more importantly to delve into our assumptions that being Jewish in America means white.
