SUMMARY:SOLD OUT! Dorot Presents: an Outing to the Gardiner Museum!
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT! Dorot Presents: an Outing to the Gardiner Museum!\nWednesday\, March 18\, 10:15 am \nCome join us on Wednesday\, March 18\, 2026\, for a very special outing to the Gardiner Museum\, where we will be taken on a customized guided tour throughout all 3 floors of this beautiful\, newly renovated museum\, inclusive of their current special exhibition\, by artist Linda Rotua Sormin: Uncertain Ground.  \nThis year\, we are especially blessed to have the added bonus of a personalized workshop led by one of our congregants\, Jess Riva Cooper\, the artist in residence at that time! Enjoy a half hour presentation with Jess herself\, while she displays some of her collection and demonstrates insight into her process!  \nWe will meet in the Museum’s front lobby no earlier than 10:00 am\, as the Museum doors do not open until that time. Tours will begin promptly at 10:15 am.  \nRegistration is $20.00/person\, which includes admission\, our customized tour\, as well as Jess’ personalized workshop/seminar. Lunch is not included. For those wanting to stay for lunch\, you are welcome to make your own reservation at the Museum’s wonderful Clay Restaurant. For those looking to grab a bite at a nearby restaurant\, please indicate this on the Registration Form\, and we will follow up with you.  \nWe are SOLD OUT! Please contact Lindsay Mockler at lmockler@holyblossom.org for the waiting list.  \nThe Dorot program is generously sponsored by a gift from the Estate of Saundra and Henry Sherman. \nABOUT THE ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE\, JESS RIVA COOPER \n\nJess Riva Cooper is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist whose work integrates clay\, drawing\, and found materials into sculptural and installation-based forms. Her practice explores mythology\, ecology\, and transformation\, often merging human and botanical imagery into hybrid structures that evoke vulnerability and persistence. Across her work\, vegetal forms erupt\, creep\, and overtake architectural and bodily frameworks\, unsettling systems of order while suggesting cycles of growth\, decay\, and renewal. \nCooper holds a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and an MFA in Ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her research-driven practice has been shaped by residencies at Medalta\, the Archie Bray Foundation\, Lillstreet Art Center\, and the John Michael Kohler Arts/Industry Program\, among others. Her work has been exhibited internationally\, including the Gardiner Museum in Toronto and Cynthia Corbett Gallery in London\, and is held in public and private collections. Through her sculptures\, Cooper engages ecological and cultural histories\, inviting reflection on interdependence\, fragility\, and regeneration.

SUMMARY:Heresy and Revolutions with Rabbi Samuel Kaye
DESCRIPTION:Heresy and Revolutions with Rabbi Samuel Kaye\nWednesdays\, 7:00 pm (in-person and online) \nJoin Rabbi Kaye for an adult education program on some of the lesser-known stories in our Jewish history. \nTogether\, we will take a deep dive into three major ideas and figures from our Jewish texts and history that have been viewed as heretical or revolutionary. From the story of Alesha ben Abuya\, Rabbinic Judaism’s first ‘heretic’\, to the chutzpadick Jews of the late 19th century who overturned the ‘Three Oaths’ and created modern Zionism. Along the way\, we’ll also stop in the 1600’s to meet the man who claimed to be Moshiach\, the one and only Shabbatai Tzvi. \nRegister here
