The National Library of Israel (NLI) is the national institution charged with preserving the cultural and intellectual heritage of Israel and the Jewish people and endowing them to future generations.
One of modern Jerusalem’s oldest institutions, the Library is currently in the midst of a historic renewal, transforming itself into a vibrant, intellectual and cultural center where all Israelis of every background and faith, the Jewish world as a whole, and people everywhere, can now access, encounter and be enriched by the Library’s treasures, both onsite and online.
Join DJ Schneeweis as he tells the story of the Library, see some of its most exquisite and rare pieces, get an inside view of the Library’s iconic new building due to open in 2022 in the heart of Jerusalem, and learn about the Library’s innovative digital, cultural and educational initiatives, all of which are helping NLI play an ever more significant role in the fabric of life in Israel and the Jewish world as a whole.
DJ Schneeweiss
Well known in Toronto from his time as Israel’s Consul General from 2012-2016, DJ is an award-winning public speaker. In 2019 DJ completed a distinguished 25-year career in Israel’s diplomatic corps, during which he served on the personal staff of multiple foreign ministers and represented Israel in London, Beijing and Toronto. DJ currently works with the National Library of Israel helping to enhance the Library’s international partnerships and strategic collaborations. DJ is married with two children and lives in Jerusalem.
