The Ups and Downs of Bringing Baby Home

January 24, 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The Luke Sklar Mental Health Initiative and Women of Holy Blossom Present:

The Ups and Downs of Bringing Baby Home – Real Talk for New Parents about Perinatal Mental Health Issues

Monday, January 24, 7:30 pm

The first few months of parenthood are generally perceived as a time of joy and celebration – full of sunshine and rainbows, right?
Right??

Well, tune into this myth-busting Zoom webinar about what for many, is a time of both joy and real challenges – depression, overwhelming anxiety, social isolation and feeling blue.
More than simply information and awareness, the session will offer practical advice about assessing what feelings are “normal” and what are not, how to know when (or if) you need help, what family and friends can do, and what types of professional help can be useful.

Register here today!

We are so fortunate to have Dr. Ariel Dalfen, our very own congregant, as our guest speaker. Dr. Dalfen is a psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was the head of the Perinatal Mental Health Program for over 12 years. She is currently the head of the innovative Perinatal Mental Health Telemedicine Program at Sinai and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. Dr. Dalfen’s book, “When Baby Brings the Blues: Solutions for Postpartum Depression”, is widely used by both health care providers and the general public.
Jewish Family and Child Services will speak briefly about the resources available for parents.
