Expert Panelist: Yaron Shavit
Yaron Shavit was born and raised in Hod Hasharon.
He is married to Michal, a high school principal, and they have three children: Yochai, Yiftach and Yaara.
Yaron Shavit was elected in June 2010 to serve as the Chairman of the Reform Movement in Israel, served 2 terms as the chair of the IMPJ, following his service of 5 years as the chairperson of the IMPJ congregation in Mevaseret Zion – KMZ. served as the Vice Chair of WUPJ and is active and volunteers within the reform congregation of his community in Mevaseret Zion, where he lives with his family.
Professionally, Mr. Shavit is an active attorney since 1986. He advanced from an associate to become the managing partner of his Tel-Aviv Law firm, which increased to become one of TLV well respected mid-size commercial law offices. Yaron is the is one of the most experienced attorneys in Israel in commercial issues relating to Computer law, High Tech, Software, commercial litigation, business law, intellectual property, tender law, corporate Law. He earned his bachelor’s degree in law at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and his master’s degree in law from the Bar-Ilan University. He served as paralegal at the Jerusalem District Court and at the Jerusalem District Attorney office.
Mr. Shavit is a member of the Zionist Executive since 2006 and is the Israel chair of the faction within the Zionist movement that is led by ARZENU. Yaron is a member of the Jewish agency BOG, and in March of 2021 was elected by the Board Of Governors to the position of Deputy Chair of the Jewish agency, initially with Isaac Herzog and later on with Doron Almog.
Yaron has served as an officer in the IDF Tank core officers’ cadets’ school and ended his regular military service as a lieutenant. Yaron continued in the IDF Reserves as an officer: a company commander, regiment commander, Brigade Chief of Staff and Division Chief of Staff and is at present a Full Colonel in his reserve duty within the IDF Central Command as a special aid to the Central command commander in chief.
