Shir Lach Shar: A Poem Sings to You
A Lunch & Learn with Cantorial Intern, Will Brockman
Two weeks, July 8 & 15, 12:00 pm
In Hebrew, the word shir can mean both “poem” and “song.” Join Cantorial Intern Will Brockman for a two-part class exploring the rich meeting place of Israeli poetry and music.
Together, we will listen closely to Hebrew poems that have been set to music, asking what happens when a poem begins to sing — and how music can deepen, transform, and reveal the meaning of the words. Along the way, Will will share live musical offerings and invite us into the emotional world of Hebrew poetry and song.
Participants are welcome to attend one session or both. No previous Hebrew knowledge is required — only curiosity, openness, and a willingness to listen deeply.
