Rosh Chodesh Iyar: Honouring Susan Mogil

By Gerry Prendergast

Susan has a long, if interrupted, history with Holy Blossom Temple. Her parents, Asher and Judith Leranbaum, were long-time members. Susan attended religious school, was confirmed and married here.
Susan and Norman attend Shabbat services regularly and enjoy many cultural events at Temple.

Susan volunteers as an Usher at Shabbat services and during the High Holy Days. She is a co-lead usher with me, and I am very happy to have her by my side!! Her most active participation is on the archives committee, which meets every Tuesday of the year with time off for the chagim.

Susan was an early and steadfast supporter of the Torah Stitch by Stitch project. She was one of a team of proofreaders of completed panels. She assisted in keeping track of where the panels were in the world and communicating with many of the stitchers.

Susan shared with me that she has always found close friends within the various synagogues she has been a member of. Having rejoined Holy Blossom in 2020, she is a very welcome face to many of the congregation. I am honoured to present Susan as a Woman of Valour and my dear friend.

As Rosh Chodesh is considered a special women’s holiday, Women of Holy Blossom will honour its inspiring, trailblazing, and amazing women. Each month, during Rosh Chodesh services, we will celebrate one woman from our Temple whose dedication and good work have helped shape our community. Please watch for these tributes in the “Life @ Holy Blossom” email!

Feel free to contact Women of Holy Blossom with questions and comments. Looking forward to celebrating together.

The Women of Valour Series is generously sponsored by Robert Lantos in memory of his mother Agnes Lantos z”l
