Preparing to leave the nest – What Jewish teens and their parents should know as they think about life post-high school.
A three-part series that offers students and their parents real language to use, an introduction to who our allies are, and the reality of what Jewish students are facing on campus.
Join us for one, or all three.
Monday, December 16th, 6:30–7:30 pm
Rev. Jason Byassee
The Revered Jason Byassee is the senior pastor at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church. He is a strong ally of the Jewish community, regularly speaking up for Israel and against antisemitism in Canada. He will speak about how he, as a devout Liberal Christian, has become a dedicated ally of the Jewish people. Rev. Byassee and Rabbi Splansky are leading an interfaith trip to Israel next May.
Monday, January 27th, 6:30-7:30 pm
Justin Chow
Justin Chow is a (former) student advocate and ally, and a recent graduate from the University of Toronto. Justin made waves after giving a powerful speech at a UofT “Rally Against Hate” and now works with Allied Voices for Israel to help students who are experiencing harassment and antisemitism on campus. Justin was with us at Holy Blossom for Yom Kippur as the afternoon speaker for our teenagers, and we are excited to welcome him again.
Monday, February 10th, 6:30-7:30 pm
Rabbi Seth Goren from Hillel Ontario
Rabbi Seth Goren, and members of the Hillel Ontario Team, will join us to discuss what Hillel is doing across the university campuses to support our Jewish students. Learn about real conversations, relationships, support systems and challenges our students are facing and that our teenagers will likely encounter. This a chance for them to meet and familiarize themselves with members of the Hillel Team!
