Nurturing Resilience During Traumatic Times in Israel and at Home

It’s no exaggeration to say the world forever changed on October 7th.
And it’s not just what we’re witnessing around the globe and in our local communities.
It’s also how we feel in our interior world.
These last 5 months have brought up so many difficult emotions – despair, grief, hopelessness, isolation, rage, and many other normal human feelings.
The key mental health question is: How can we respond to these emotions in a way that feels safe and can also lead to healing?
We are so fortunate to have our own Holy Blossom community member, Dr. Nate Charach, lead us in this introductory ZOOM session, co-sponsored by the L’Chaim Group and the Luke Sklar Mental Health Initiative.
The hope is that this online kick-off will lead to the forming of in-person groups that meet regularly, using this moment in history to help turn our society from its current path to one that values life and Tikkun Olam.
These groups will nurture resilience by starting from a place of gratitude, allowing us to honour our pain, see new perspectives, and encourage us to go forth into the world to foster renewal.
ABOUT OUR FACILITATOR:
Dr. Nate Charach is a psychiatrist working in Toronto. Over the last year, he has started psychiatree groups – a branch of mental health treatment to foster empowerment to address our collective challenges. These groups integrate concepts from Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects with his group psychotherapeutic skills. He completed the Jewish Leadership Institute at Holy Blossom in 2015, a Permaculture Design Certificate at The Living Centre in 2018, and Work That Reconnects Facilitator Training in 2023/24.
Nate is also a peerless left-fielder and leadoff hitter for our Holy Blossom Brotherhood baseball team, the “Holy Bs”, 9-time champions of the Inter-Synagogue Baseball League.
