Love Your Other As Yourself: Judaism’s Golden Rule

A Brotherhood Study Group

Mondays, January 16 – February 6, 7:30 pm

Brotherhood welcomes Rabbi Bill S. Tepper back for a new course, to which all are welcome! Ever since being gifted with Torah, Jews have looked to the Book of Leviticus, Chapter 19, Verse 18 – love your other as yourself – as a guiding and fundamental value. It is by way of these words that we endeavour to navigate relationships with all our fellow members of the human family, irrespective of faith, ethnicity, culture, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, economic status and socio-political viewpoint. In our sessions together, we will turn to classical and modern texts, film, drama, and music to explore how Judaism’s ‘Golden Rule’ has served – and, in the best of possible worlds, shall continue to serve – as a pathway towards the unfolding of a universe imbued with the spirit of kindness, compassion, understanding, and generosity.
