How Social Media Affects our Mental Health: A Fireside Chat in The Mishkan with Dr. Jack Muskat, Ph.D
Presented & Sponsored by: The Luke Sklar Mental Health Initiative
Monday, November 13, 7:30 pm
This helpful, and ultimately hopeful talk is designed to address so many of our questions about the impacts of social media on our mental health. We’ll start with a broad definition of social media and its myriad platforms, and look at the positive role it can play. What drives our use of social media and to what degree are we manipulated by it? How can we use it in helpful, not harmful ways? What should parents know about their child’s access, and what are the signs of overload or addiction? Ultimately, how can we learn to control social media and not have it control us?
Finally, Dr. Muskat will talk about how social media intersects with the current crisis in Israel – with an eye toward helping us navigate the vast amounts of information/misinformation and relieving some of our anxieties.
This evening is an opportunity to come and feel the warmth of community as we learn together, share together, and enjoy refreshments after the program.
