Holy Blossom Grandparents Project
Monthly, Mondays, 6:30 pm
Please join Rabbi McCarroll for this once-a-month class aimed at empowering our grandparents, particularly those with grandchildren who are disengaged for whatever reason (e.g. geographical distance), with tools to bring Jewish life to their families, utilizing tools and wisdom from the Jewish Grandparents Network resource. The class is further co-facilitated by social worker Doreen Saskin and former Holy Blossom ECC Director Pam Hamovitch.
It aims to connect grandparents with one another, to share their experiences, to learn and grow together, and to support each other through one of life’s greatest, most challenging, and most rewarding, life stages
The classes run from 6:30-8:00 pm on Monday nights once per month, at Holy Blossom. Please feel free to attend every session, or just those ones that are suitable schedule-wise and/or interest-wise.
Please note also that Ma’ariv/Mincha services take place beforehand, at 6:00 pm – all are welcome to join.
Anticipated dates and curriculum are as follows:
- October 23: The Unique Role of the Grandparent
- November 20: Shabbat/Chaggim and Calendar (with Chanukah as a case study)
- December 18: Health and Wellbeing (incorporating Tu Bishvat)
- January 29: Navigating Family Dynamics
- February 12: Life Cycle Events (using B’Mitzvah as a case study)
- March 25: Play as a Developmental Tool (integrating Purim)
- April 15: Travel (Pesach and Israel theme)
- May 13: Cooking and Food (integrating Yom Ha’Atzmaut)
- June 24: Storytelling (integrating Shavuot)
