Every Child Matters: Commemorating the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

September 30, 2:00 pm

Please join the Holy Blossom Interfaith Committee members on September 30 to support our Indigenous partners on the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

Elder Catherine Brooks, our partner at Anishnawbe Health Toronto, will be leading a Ceremony of Commemoration and will share stories of her mother’s experience as a Residential School Survivor. Traditional Drummers and Dancers will join her.

The event will be held at Tollkeeper’s Park at Davenport Road and Bathurst Street and this site will be recognized as a National Healing Forest. After the Ceremony, we will have an opportunity to meet over Chef Charles Catchpole’s Tea and Bannock in the Tollkeeper’s Cottage garden.

All are welcome to join us in the spirit of Teshuvah (Redemption) and Chesbon Hanefesh (The Accounting of the Soul) as we honour our Indigenous partners on this special day. Please plan to arrive at 1:45 pm on September 30 on the northwest corner of Davenport and Bathurst. Members of the Interfaith Committee will meet you and guide you to where the event will take place. If you have an orange Every Child Matters shirt, please feel free to wear it to this event as it demonstrates our support and acknowledgement.

No RSVP is required. If you require further information about this event, please contact: Rabbi Sam Kaye [email protected] or Kalman Green, Chair, Interfaith Committee [email protected]
