Dorot Presents: Tour of Brimley Road Cemetery

Dorot Presents: Tour of Brimley Road Cemetery (Holy Blossom Memorial Park)

Sunday, June 23, 10:30 am

Last year, the Dorot group visited the Pape Avenue Cemetery, the first Jewish institution in Toronto, established in 1849. We visited the graves of some of the early leaders of Holy Blossom, including Edmund Scheuer and Rabbi Solomon Jacobs.

This year, we are heading to our Brimley Road cemetery, which opened in the late 1920s and is still in use. We will pay our respects to Rabbis Eisendrath and Plaut, and Heinz Warschauer, our long-time Director of Education. There will also be an opportunity for people to visit the resting places of their loved ones.

Our guides, Holy Blossom archivists Sheila Smolkin and Michael Cole, will give some background to the history of the cemetery and the congregation during the period when Brimley Road became the main place of burial for our members.

Please register here to join us for this excursion

Light snacks and water will be provided.

The Dorot program is generously sponsored by Carole and Jay Sterling and Family.
