Connecting Past and Present: Toronto Jewish History Tour
September 7, 2:30 pm
Walk in the footsteps of Toronto’s Jewish ancestors. Starting on Bond Street, at the pre-1937 home of Holy Blossom Temple, Toronto’s first Jewish congregation, we’ll uncover some of the lineages of Toronto’s earliest Jewish communities. We’ll circle major and minor landmarks around St. John’s Ward and end at the Kiever Shul in Kensington Market, as we see how the community developed and became a thriving village in the heart of the city. Augmented by archival photographs and props, we’ll have a chance to reflect on what it has meant to make a Jewish home in Canada — then and now.
