The Luke Sklar Mental Health Initiative Presents:

ADHD in Adults: How to recognize and overcome it

With Guest Speaker Dr. Doron Almagor, MD FRCPC, Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist

and Lived Experience Speaker Naomi Wise, Registered Psychotherapist, Neurofeedback therapist

Wednesday, May 15 at 7:30 pm, in the Mishkan

When we think about ADHD, our first images are often of overactive children, blurting out or being disruptive in class, disorganized, forgetful, and daydreaming.

The fact is, about 5% of all Canadians have ADHD. That’s about 1.8 million of us. It manifests in ways most adults don’t recognize but constantly struggle with: underachievement in education or at work, difficulty starting a project or finishing it, relationship breakdown due to mismanagement of finances or the household, scrambling to care for children and loved ones, remembering dates and deadlines, and more. This often leads to mental health problems like anxiety and depression, as well as self-medicating with alcohol and drugs. Many adults live their entire lives with undiagnosed and untreated ADHD.

We are so fortunate to have Dr. Doron Almagor, as well as lived experience speaker Naomi Wise, to share their insights with us. Our aim for this evening is to better understand what ADHD is, help adults recognize if they have it, understand how ADHD is diagnosed, its relationship to other mental health disorders, and discuss best treatment options (both pharmacological and non-drug methods.) We’ll conclude with a Q & A session.

Please join us in the Mishkan and feel the warmth of community as we learn together, share together, and enjoy refreshments after the program.

For anyone who can’t make it in person, the event will also be Livestreamed. Please register below for the link and password.

Please register here (whether attending in person or online) to join us.
