Eric Roher, Senior Vice President
I am a third generation Holy Blossom member. The Roher family has a long history at the Temple, which includes the Roher Library and Roher Stained Glass Window. I grew up at the Temple and attended Religious School under leadership of the iconic Heinz Warschauer, the Temple’s former Director of Education. My grandparents and parents have been committed members.
My wife Beth and our three children have all been actively engaged in Temple activities and events. I have been on the Board of Directors and an active Gabbai for a number of years. As a family, we celebrated Shabbat at the Family Service with Judy and David for many years. We also loved the activities at Family Camp during the summer, where we made a number of lifelong friends. As well, I have assisted the Temple for many years in preparing human resources policies and procedures to enhance its governance and administration. I was honored to work closely with Rabbi Dov Marmur in setting up an educational program for Holy Blossom students after Confirmation.
Professionally, I am Senior Counsel and National Leader of the Education Law Group at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. I have taught the Education Law Course at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law for 18 years. I am the author or co-author of five books, including An Educator’s Guide to the Role of the Principal, Third Edition and the 2023 Edition of the Ontario Employment Standards Act: Quick Reference, both published by Thomson Reuters.
My wife Beth is a committed Holy Blossom member where she had a wonderful Bat Mitzvah as a adult. Beth performed in the Purim Spiel this year and is currently a dedicated member of Ukelele Group led by Susan Baskin. Our three children, Jessica, Rebecca and Sophie all attended Religious School and have been active members in the Temple community.
The next generation is now involved at the Temple. Our granddaughters, Eva and Ruby Century, are regular members of the Family Shabbat Service with David Gershon and Rabbi McCarroll, where they enjoy the music, the dancing, and the delicious challah.
