Daniel Wilson, Vice President, Development
I am a lifelong member of Holy Blossom Temple (HBT) and represent the third generation of my family to belong to the synagogue. I attended HBT’s religious school program from junior kindergarten all the way to confirmation in Grade 10. Following confirmation, I was a student teacher in the HBT religious school program for several years.
I joined the HBT Finance Committee and Board of Directors in 2020. I also joined the HBT Audit Committee in 2021. I recently completed an 8-year term on the JVS Toronto Board of Directors, where I continue to serve on the Finance Committee. For 10 years, I served on the Board of Directors of the South Muskoka Lake Community Association. For 4 years, I organized annual volunteer tax clinics and prepared personal tax returns for senior citizens at Unionville Home Society.
For work, I am a Principal in the tax department of Segal GCSE LLP. I specialize in income tax for owner-managed businesses and professionals. My experience includes corporate and partnership reorganizations, tax aspects of sale and purchase of businesses, cross-border taxation, estate planning, personal and corporate tax planning, as well as non-for-profit organizations. I frequently write and speak on the subject of tax matters and served as a group study and in-residence tutorial leader for CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Course.
I met my wife, Amy Ticoll on Birthright Israel in December 2009. We got married and had our reception at HBT in 2013. Amy is a Platform Operations Manager at the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson. We have two children, Michael and Jacqueline, who are currently in grade 1 (including HBT’s YEC program) and nursery school, respectively. In my spare time, I’m an avid baseball fan who enjoys visiting different major league stadiums. Other interests include history, travelling, weather and hiking/camping in the great outdoors.
