It’s all about Pesach in grade 5!
We’ve been reading a story about the holiday in Hebrew and tried to improve our Hebrew reading. We also started the blessings of peace in our Hebrew book.
Our Shinshinit Lia was teaching us a bit about places in Israel and how and where to find them on the map.
Shalom everyone.
It’s all Pesach in the last couple of weeks. We were reading in Hebrew, sang with Avishai and baked some Kosher for Passover cookies!
Ma Nishtana…
Not much is different, but we started dwelling in the Hagadah, we remembered the story of how and why we became slaves, and all of it in Hebrew. On top of it , we were working in our Hebrew books, most kids finished Hodaah, and started the blessings of peace, while others were practicing their reading.
We had so much fun today!
We started with a word search in Hebrew that related to Purim.
Then we had Leah the Shinshinit that played a fun game with us and we learned about the army service in Israel.
Afterwards, we read the fourth blessing of the Amidah -Hoda’ah and went over some prefixes and suffixes.
The highlight of today was having T’filah service in the new part of the building, the new “Mishkan”. It was so beautiful!

Thank you parents, thank you Debbie for an amazing lesson of the book of Esther. It was great to have everyone participate in the ongoing question: is it a coincidence, courage or the hand of God?
In Hebrew we finished the third prayer of the Amidah that speaks about God’s holiness, Kedoosha. We are trying very hard to improve our reading and please, ask your kids to read to you at home , it always help them to get better.
Don’t forget this coming Sunday is Crazy Hat day!
This week we had pizza and a movie! We watched Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
Shalom everyone.
On Sunday we have reviewed a bit of what we’ve been learning so far about the Prophets and we discovered that we’ve done a lot of good things. I hope that you are planning to join us on the 24th , as we would love to share some of it with you and to have a study of a new prophet together.
We had some fun and games with our Shinshinim and continued practicing reading Hebrew and learning more about roots, prefixes and suffixes to help us understand the prayers better.
Shalom everyone.
Sunday was all about Tu Bishvat!
We talked about the Mitzvah of Bal Tashchit: how we are commanded to take care of nature and not allowed to cut down trees. We talked about the 7 species that Israel is blessed with, and the reason for celebrating a birthday for the trees. We played some Snakes and Ladders with Hebrew words for the holiday and made some centerpieces with the help of grade 4.
In Hebrew we are learning the third prayer of the Amida – Kedushah.
Shalom everyone!
WELCOME BACK!
So good to see everyone today. We had a lot of fun with the Shinshinim, learning new words in Hebrew. Words that one of the reviving of the language invented, Eliezer Ben Yehudah. We played Bingo as we learned some of the words.
We also worked on our Deborah song in groups and it looked like everyone had a great time. Next week we will listen to them.
In Hebrew we started the third prayer of the Amidah – Kedusha that talks about God’s holiness. As always the kids have a copy of the prayer to practice at home.
We need to get better fluency and accuracy and that will only come with some work at home. Please remind them to read, even better, ask them to read to you.
Have a wonderful week.
