“Legends of Destruction” an artful film for Tisha B’Av
Presented & Sponsored by: Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom and Holy Blossom Temple
Tuesday, August 13, 7:00 pm, An online-only event for two congregations
Join Rabbi Lisa Grushcow of Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom of Montreal and Rabbi Yael Splansky of Holy Blossom Temple in Toronto for an exclusive screening of the award-winning film about a people divided and the Jewish Revolt against Rome, which, combined, led to the destruction of Jerusalem’s Second Temple in 70 CE.
“Legends of Destruction,” an exquisitely animated film by Israeli Director, Gidi Dar, has been reset with an English-speaking cast and premiered last month in New York City.
Immediately following the 90-minute film, join Rabbis Grushcow and Splansky in an open conversation about the watershed moment of Jewish history, which led to 2,000 years of exile. What lessons emerge from this period? And what questions of theology, sociology, and strategy inform the serious conversations we are having again today?
