A Brief Service, Study & Siyum for the Firstborn
With Rabbi Yael Splansky
Wednesday, April 5, 7:30 am
On the day before the first seder, it is customary for the eldest or only child of a family to fast to show empathy for the firstborns of Egypt and gratitude for being spared the 10th plague. However, completing a unit of text is reason for a celebratory meal. The seudat mitzvah (festive meal) overrides the fast.
After the morning minyan, Rabbi Splansky will lead a brief study session, you may wish to share at your seder tables. No matter your birth order, all are welcome for breakfast to break the fast!
