Rick Howard, Director
I was born and raised in Toronto and am a third generation lifelong member of Holy Blossom Temple (“HBT”). I attended public school, while also being part of the HBT religious school, having also been consecrated, become a Bar Mitzvah, confirmed and married at HBT. HBT has been a central part of my life and identity. For approximately 10 years, I was first a student teacher, and then a teacher, in the HBT religious school, followed by time as a member of the Religious Education Committee. I also proudly have served on the HBT Board as both a board member and vice president (at large) in two different stints. In between my times on the Board, I was also honoured to serve as Chair of the Nominating Committee for 3 years.
I am very proud of the commitment and involvement of my family in Temple life. My wife, Ellen, is also a lifelong member who recently served as co-chair of Out of the Cold. We have celebrated various life cycle events with our 3 children at HBT, including two who were recently married in beautiful ceremonies officiated by Rabbi Splansky, as well as the recent additions of two grandchildren!
In addition to being a lawyer by trade, Ellen and I are the directors of Camp Tamarack which is part of my lifelong commitment, personally and professionally, to teaching and helping children and youth. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, working out, coaching, watching and playing sports and babysitting!
