Dorot Presents: Blockbuster Program! Special Collaboration with Cynthia Good

Good Books – In Person and Online!

Part of a blockbuster double bill with Cynthia Good on February 28!

February 28, 10:30 am

Come and see your Reading Friends in person at Holy Blossom Temple. All participants are welcome to join Cynthia at the regular Good Books session either in person or online. If you’ve never attended Good Books before, now is the time to learn about it. And don’t worry, if you can’t make it in person, the regular Zoom link will be available. Enjoy Cynthia’s reading suggestions, and be ready to add your own suggestions, too. As always, Good Books is free.

Want more about books and publishing? See all Good Books events in the calendar. And stay on for another Dorot program for a talk and specially catered lunch by Holy Grounds Cafe: Behind the Scenes, Cynthia Good’s Insider View of Publishing.

Good Books is a program of the Schwartz/Reisman Centre for Adult Jewish Learning.

Dorot: Behind the Scenes, Cynthia Good’s Insider View of Publishing

February 28, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Part of a blockbuster double bill with Cynthia Good on February 28!

Join the Dorot program for a talk and specially catered lunch by Holy Grounds Cafe, following Good Books – in person and online! If you’ve never attended Good Books before, now is the time to learn about it!

Have you ever wondered who makes the decision to publish a book? And what happens after that? Cynthia will guide you through the full process, from manuscript to finished book (and ebook). As part of this process, she will tell you about the role of the editor: What is it like to edit the work of a famous writer? Or to introduce a new and exciting author to the world? Being an editor is an incredibly satisfying career. But there are problems. You work for the publisher, but often your loyalty is to the writer. What are the issues that arise from that? How much change to a manuscript is acceptable? And how much say does the writer have in the publishing process?

The Dorot Program is sponsored by a gift from Elen Steinberg in memory of her father Vladimir Steinberg, z”l
