Tu B’Shevat gives us a chance to pause and reflect on our relationship to the earth, on the ecological systems we find ourselves within, and on the seeds of growth hidden within each of us. Answering writer Sophie Strand’s invitation — “Let us write stories that seek to be as textured, complicated, and diverse as an old-growth forest” — we’ll be inspired by Jewish texts and new poems to write or illustrate our own commentary on the themes of this holiday.
Activating our creativity through free-writing and art-making can help us be present to what is and imagine the world that might be. Bring a notebook and/or your favourite art-making materials and be prepared to join the conversation.
