On this special Shabbat, we will celebrate the leadership of Sara Charney, who will be installed that evening as the President of the Women of Reform Judaism. She will be the first Canadian to hold this position. Holy Blossom Temple and the Women of Sisterhood are proud of Sara’s many contributions and accomplishments.

To honour the occasion of Sara Charney’s Installation and in celebration of Holy Blossom Temple’s 100th Anniversary as a Reform congregation, we will welcome Rabbi Sally Priesand to give the sermon, entitled, “Richer for the Gifts that Women Bring.”
A Message from Sisterhood:
We are proud to announce that on March 13, 2021, past Sisterhood president, Sara Charney, will be installed as the first-ever Canadian president of our international umbrella organization Women of Reform Judaism. At our Holy Blossom Temple Shabbat morning service, at 10:30 a.m., Sara will be honoured by our Rabbi and three Sisterhood members who will chant Torah and Haftarah. At the conclusion of the service please join us in the virtual atrium to wish Sara Mazel Tov. In the evening at 7:30 pm, we welcome you to celebrate Sara’s Installation by Rabbi Splansky, as part of the exciting Fried Women’s Conference.

Rabbi Sally J. Priesand is the first woman to become a Rabbi in North America. Ordained in 1972 by Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion, she dedicated the majority of her rabbinate to leading the Monmouth Reform Temple in Tinton Falls, New Jersey from 1981 until her retirement in 2006. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honours, including most recently being one of twenty Jewish women leaders recognized in “From Haven to Home,” an exhibit at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
