In First, stories

Though a short month, February was filled with social justice, tzedakah, and tikkun olam!

At the beginning of the month, a number of our teens along with their parents spent a Sunday morning at the Imdadul Islamic Centre, volunteering with our friends there for their monthly Feed the Street program.  Click here to read more about the experience, and see some pictures.  The Imdadul Centre has been a good friend of Holy Blossom Temple, and we are excited to be strengthening our partnership and friendship by bringing our young people together for various experiences, to get to know one another, and learn from each other.

From February 8-11th, a group of teens from Holy Blossom travelled to Washington D.C. to attend L’Taken: a Social Justice seminar run by the Religious Action Center for Reform Judaism.  The seminar culminated with our teens meeting with officials at the Canadian Embassy, to share with them some of the issues they learned about, and talk about what our government is doing to tackle them.  Click here to read reflections of the participants, and see some photos from the trip.

The annual Grade 7 Tzedakah Fair took place this month.  Click here to learn more about this hands-on learning experience.
