Renewal construction updates (almost) as they happen, for the week of April 18, 2016

In our special congregational Renewal Project e-blast last week (here’s a link for those who missed it) we included a particularly compelling piece of video made to support our Renewal Fundraising efforts. It features Honourary Campaign Co-Chairs, Gerald Schwartz and Heather Reisman, and David Gershon, the Slan family, and Judy Winberg. And it’s an inspiring reminder of the impact of Holy Blossom on the lives of our Temple families, coupled with why our Renewal Project is so important to our future. We invite you to watch a small sample of the video below.

In more immediate news, our general contractor, Pomerleau Construction, will be setting up their site office at the beginning of May and getting to work shortly thereafter constructing the balance of Phase 1 of our Renewal Project. That means there’s going to be demolition in our future, as we begin taking down walls, floors and ceilings from the former Ava Road Foyer right through to Dewbourne, to make way for our transformative, light-filled Atrium and the rest of our Phase 1 spaces: our new Library, Café, Youth Lounge, Administrative Wing and much more, all in a LEED Silver Certified environmentally-friendly building. We are waiting for a final schedule from Pomerleau, but this demo work looks like it will get underway toward the end of May or the start of June.

And just a brief reminder that, just as all of our daily and weekly activities are staying on campus throughout Phase 1 construction, all of our High Holy Day services will also be taking place on site at Holy Blossom: in our Sanctuary, in the Philip Smith Hall and in other spaces within our School Wing. Much more information to come on this throughout the spring and summer!
