Renewal construction updates (almost) as they happen, for the week of October 19th, 2015.
All of the preparatory and behind the scenes work continues this week in anticipation of our rabbinic, school and administrative professionals moving into their temporary locations in the School Wing later this month.
That means we’re finalizing the last details of our security and communications systems; drywall crews and painters are working their way through the building putting the final touches on offices; holes are being fixed in the ceilings that trades needed to cut to install new wiring; and the lengthy, but obviously critical, process of transferring all of our fire safety devices over to the new fire alarm panel is continuing.
Excitingly, the beautiful new doors that will serve as HBT’s main entrance from the Ava Road parking lot into the Boardroom foyer during Phase 1 construction have arrived and are now in place. As soon as the new door hardware is installed, we’ll move our Security desk into the Boardroom foyer and begin using these doors as our main entrance into the School Wing.
A reminder that these are the final stages of the (sometimes arduous) preliminary phase of construction, which will enable us to stay on campus and house all of our usual Temple activities in the School Wing throughout the rest of Phase 1 of Renewal. And, that means construction of our gorgeous Central Atrium, brand new Family Chapel and much more, will be getting underway very, very soon.
In fact, tender packages were distributed this week to six pre-qualified general contractor firms that are bidding to oversee the construction of the balance of Phase 1. Our Building Committee, with the guidance of our architect, will select the winning bid in about six weeks. At the same time, the results of the tendering process will allow us to finalize our total anticipated Phase 1 budget.
